1/144 F-106 in What If Thunderbird color scheme.
In the late 60's, the USAF needed to replace the F-100's of the Thunderbirds. The Chief of Staff knew that the Navy was changing to the Phantom for the Blue Angels. He basically told his staff that the Air Force was not going to copy the Navy and would absolutely not use the Phantom. Besides, it was a Navy design and he wanted a real Air Force airplane. So after trials with several different types, they selected the F-106.
